EMR Recertification Course

Recertification is open to previous UEMSA EMR students only.

Description:

The recertification course is taught in conjunction with the full EMR course over 8 weeks. Only specific classes and labs must be attended. Recertification students will take their final written exam and practicals during the course’s final week.

Upon completion of the course, students will be certified as an Emergency Medical Responder by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI). CPR certification is “BLS Providers” through the American Heart Association. Both certifications are valid for two years.

The course content (lecture material, skill sheets, quizzes, and ride-along documentation) will be provided through USF’s Canvas program. The course textbook is optional; PowerPoints are provided through Canvas.

Attendance is mandatory to all selected class meetings. Recertification requires a minimum number of classroom hours. As such, students can only miss 4 hours of excused class instruction. Other university classes are not considered an excused absence or reason for late arrivals.
